The Doric chimneypiece was designed by Samuel Goddard. The design was inspired by the strength of form and simplicity of the Doric column, while the proportions were based on the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens. Shown here in Statuary marble with black slate hearth, Modern steel slips, Universal basket and Modi andirons.
